Mother's day at Kent of Inglewood

Mother's day at Kent of Inglewood

Kent of Inglewood is well-known for providing all-manner of goods to Canadian men. Whether you shave with a straight razor, sport a proud beard, or chop wood by hand we have you covered. What many don’t realize, is just how much we cater to all, not just men. Growing up, my female friends started shaving well before I ever did yet received less guidance than I did, which never seemed to make much sense.

Over the years at Kent of Inglewood, we’ve had countless people ask in hushed tones if safety razors and shaving brushes could be used on legs. We’ve had the opportunity to educate all sort who were never properly taught how to shave, how to use a brush and soap to create a nice lather, how to angle a double edged razor against their skin, or how to properly care for the skin afterwards. Many of these people would be shaving their legs and underarms, and many of them are mothers.

Working at Kent of Inglewood has made buying gifts for my father quite simple, but it wasn’t until my mother mentioned her interest in a shaving brush and cream that it dawned on me that I could get gifts for her here as well! The next Mother’s Day I had my gift sorted with a Kent of Inglewood Silvertip Brush and D.R. Harris Rose Shaving Cream. Not only was my mother absolutely thrilled with the gift, but this helped to pique her interest in returning to her old safety razor that she’d put aside many years ago. This Mother’s Day seems like the perfect opportunity to get her a new handle, as the one on her old razor is in a bad state of repair.

The idea behind wet-shaving is simple. A badger brush forms a thick lather while also exfoliating the skin and lifting the hairs to prevent in-growns. A single, sharp blade cuts close to the skin and greatly reduces irritation. The result is a closer shave, happier skin, and a very pleasant experience. Whatever you choose to shave, this is quite simply a more enjoyable way to do it.

Castelbel Postcard Soap

Another great gift item my family members has been Portuguese soap from Castelbel. I’ve purchased this for my grandmother, aunt, father and his girlfriend. Many of the people in my life have received these, and all have been thrilled. If you haven’t thought about the joy of using a great soap, I recommend you read our blog about na’eeman, the blissful refreshing feeling of washing your hands, having a perfect shave, or stepping out of the ocean. “Na’eeman” perfectly describes how Portuguese soap makes me feel. When giving it as a gift, I often buy the “Postcard Series” or smaller hand-soaps like Noble Red or Rose Blush. These little ones are a very reasonable size for gifts and have fresh fragrances that just about anybody will love.

Whether you choose to get her a shaving set, Portuguese soap or something entirely different for Mother’s Day, we are positive that she will appreciate that wonderful feeling of Na’eeman that we enjoy in Kent of Inglewood every single day. We definitely know she deserves it.
