If you wanna feel like a samurai everytime you pull out your hatchet, think about this one. This hatchet come with sexy wooden sheath, and the blade is beautifully polished and sharpened. This Nata is originally used for cutting tall grass and limbing trees. Also functions as a great hatchet for kindling. The head on this axe is made of a high quality Japanese carbon steel, meaning it sharpens easily, takes a great edge, but can rust if left wet for too long. The cutting edge measures about 165 mm.
As with all wooden-hafted axes, take care to oil the haft of this axe regularly to ensure strength and a tight bond between head and haft.

Beauty

"Another gorgeous piece from the wonderful staff at Knifewear. Haven't used it much as I bought it for camping, I know it is going to be a fantastic addition. If you would like to watch someone put a Nata to good work, check out "Outdoor Boys" on YouTube. After watching Luke use it, you'll definitely want one. A highly versatile tool."

Amazing Knife

"excellent weight and very sharp"

Thiago S. (5/5)

Light handle. Heavy blade

"I see some complaints for the handle, but this handle with grace. I had very few cringing moments of hitting a rock MULTIPLE times, and yet. Handle like a champ. Very few nicks after 5 hours of hatching away from salmon berry bushes. Very ease with those branches, and this Hatchet lives by its name. I ordered another product for light and trimming purposes, but didn't last one bush, but this Tsunehisa finish the job that I was looking for. 5 stars."

Blade

"Such an awesome blade. Feels really good in your hands and is great for kindling"

Jeremy B. (5/5)

Great item, could use a little more fit/finish

"Tried it on a couple small pieces of wood. Can't wait for the spring to come so I can use this. The edges where the knife meets the handle are a little sharp. nothing a little sand paper wont fix on the handle. Might even glue in a small piece of leather or fabric to make a seamless gap for my hand"

Great hatchet

"Nicely weighted hatchet. Great for making kindling and pruning small branches."

Paul M. (5/5)

Kindling king!

"Bought this on a whim - it is STELLAR at breaking down kindling into smaller pieces for campfire season or making feather sticks. The difference between this and a standard hatchet is akin to the difference between an old Henckels chef's knife and an SG2 Gyuto! So sharp and sweet to use. Handle is on the rough and ready side - but it's a hatchet, so that really hasn't bothered me."

Dean C. (5/5)

Japanese hatchet

"Over all this hatchet is quite well balanced for extended use. The handle is sized well for a larger hand. The blade is hard enough to hold an edge yet still easy to sharpen. The finish is also smooth enough to be easily cleaned of sap etc."

Marilyn H. (4/5)

A perfect hatchet.

"I had seen this hatchet in one of your emails. I went to buy this hatchet as a gift for an outdoors man. Once, I felt this hatchet I knew it would be perfect for making kindling and splitting firewood. It even came with a belt sheath which I was not aware of. The handle and balance are perfect. I've always liked Japanese blades, and this is perfect for limbing small branches, and the above needs. The person I bought this was very impressed with the finish of this item and can't wait to use it."
