Top 10 Scent Profiles You Should Know!
Fragrance Scent Profiles Made Easy!
Since its original creation, perfumes have been used to elevate, to distinguish, and to captivate. Perfumery is the art. Perfumery involves a skilled and experienced artist, known as a nose, creating a scent blended from multiple essential oils, often hundreds, to communicate an image or idea.
At Kent of Inglewood we are well versed in all things fragrance, but that doesn't mean you have to be! To help the more novice folks interested in navigating the exciting world of scent, we've broken down our entire collection into more approachable categories that everyone can explore confidently in while narrowing down their next new scent obsession.

Our list of Top 10 Scent Profiles You Should Know is meant to serve as a guide into the basics of differentiating fragrances by their more over-all scent profile. We'll focus on identifying the scents we enjoy that surround us in the world already, and use those familiar combinations to help guide you in deciding what stands out as favourite scent!
There's no right or wrong opinions on fragrance, it's for you to enjoy and other's to ask where the hell you got that amazing cologne from! (Say it with me now, "Kent of Inglewood, duh!!")

When you break scent combinations down into their most familiar themes like Citrus, Smokey, Woodsy, or Spicy, it becomes much easier to have an opinion on what you like most when exploring scents yourself. Most people have encountered something Citrus Scented like a lemon or lime, and they know right away if they prefer either, or neither, or both (that's a lotta citrus!)
Truefitt & Hill - West Indian Limes Cologne
A lot of folks have sat by the fire together and commented on how great the burning wood smells. Taking a moment to slow down and think about the scent you're enjoying while fireside is key to narrowing down what you personally want in a fragrance.
Paraphrase - Smoked Bloom Parfum
Was it the smokiness alone that you enjoyed about that fire, or was it because it was a combination of the Cedarwood AND the Smoke that make it so appealing? This trick is taking two well know scent profiles and building something special and unique together and that's the art of fragrance!
Mistral - Cedarwood Marine Parfum
Determining what different Fragrances you like for yourself, is as easy as combining some well known scent groupings like we did in the camp fire example, to help you choose your absolute favourite pairings!
These Top 10 Scent Profiles You Should Know are the scents we think most people can resonate with. We've also bundled up into these 10 different scent collections for your shopping ease.

Blending scents like Rose and Jasmine make for a beautiful Floral profile that creates a romantic, sophisticated aroma, often characterized as semi powdery or fresh.
Persons of Interest - Two Wolves is one of our favourite Floral profiles.
Warm and earthy, Woodsy scents are often made up of notes like Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Vetiver, and Patchouli to evoke a natural, grounding profile.
Paraphrase - Soft Woods is a very popular fragrance with an overall Woodsy Scent Profile.
Often consisting of a lighter overall initial scent, a Balanced Fragrance Profile can still have a lot going on, while being approachable on the nose. Typically, a Balanced fragrance combines other fragrance families like the ones in this list to achieve a perfectly well-rounded and complex experience.
A great example of a balanced fragrance is Henri et Victoria's Duc de Santal Perfume as it is mixed with an intoxicating muskiness, balanced by lighter hints of sandalwood.
Another Scent Profile often associated with being on the lighter side, Fresh Fragrance Profiles are designed to capture that energetic, bright, "post-shower" feeling. Typically described as "clean", or "invigorating", fragrances with a fresh scent profile are often loved by all. Notes like Lemon, Sea Salt, and Herbs can be found in this fragrance profile.
One of our favourite Freshly scented fragrances is 1805 Cologne by Truefitt & Hill.
Warm and intense, highly aromatic notes can be expected when considering Fragrances with Spicy Scent Profiles. Combinations of cinnamon, clove, pepper, and cardamon are used to replicate sensations of heat, mystery, and richness.
Paraphrase - Gilded is a perfect example of a complex Spicy Fragrance that uses these exciting notes to build a dramatic, memorable scent. Another classic fragrance featuring heavy notes of clove and anise is Crown's Signature Scented Parfum, which is love to enjoy around the barbershop.
Bright & zesty, like a freshly peeled mandarin orange sometimes accompanied by aromatic herbs & light florals, a fragrance with a Citrus Scented Profile opens a window to a gorgeous summer day waiting to be enjoyed.
Persons of Interest - Untitled is one such fragrance we love to recommend when looking for citrus!
A familiar ocean breeze. The salty spray of cool sea water. Aquatic Scented Fragrances offer fresh, inviting notes of cucumber, basil & bergamot making for an overall tranquil and nostalgic experience.
Our most popular Aquatic Fragrance is definitely tied between Mistral's Salted Gin Parfum and Cedarwood Marine Parfum.
For the lovers of dessert-like scents with rich depth, gourmand pairings or juicy fruit notes, these Sweetly Scented Fragrances are for you! A sweet scent profile can have any number of inspirations like peaches, berries, jasmine or cotton candy.
Mistral's Bourbon Vanilla Parfum is always hit associated with this scent profile!
Think of setting foot into a greenhouse filled to the glass ceilings with extraordinary botanical delights like Sage, Mint or Thyme, often mixed with peppery, sometimes slightly bitter accompaniments.
If you find yourself over enjoying your culinary herbs in the kitchen, Herbal Scented Fragrances are for you!
My favourite Herbal Fragrance has gotta be Grasslands 50ml from Paraphrase and if it's the greener side of things you're looking for, my all time favourite fragrance featuring grassy, herbal notes has always been Vetiver by Castle Forbes - a fragrance which needs needs no introduction, just one spray and you'll be converted for life.
Intense & long lasting, sometimes spicy or smokey. Warm Scented Fragrances are often made up of notes like vanilla, rich amber, clean musks, or woody blends that wrap you up like a wool blanket on a cold night.
When I think of warm fragrances it's Sex & Cigarettes by Persons of Interest that comes to mind for it's boldly enticing mix of nutmeg, cedarwood, and smoke.
If you ever wanna deep dive your favourite fragrance notes more, we've added new searchable product collections grouped by their corresponding Top, Middle, and Base notes.
