Did you know you get a Honing Rod 50% off with kitchen knife purchase. Just add a kitchen knife and rod to your cart to take advantage of this offer!

This white honing rod works great when maintaining ultra hard knife steels like Powdered Steel and Aogami Super.
We love this white honing rod when sharpening because it does an awesome job of cleaning the burrs off an edge. It is slightly coarser than the black rod. 3-6 strokes on each side of the blade will keep it silky and awesome. Forget what you’ve seen from the TV chefs. You don't need a ton of pressure or speed. Just be precise and gentle. Any questions? Check out the GIF below to see how it's done!

Looking for the bonus round of Knifenerd level sharpness? Complete the trifecta by using the white rod, the black rod, and then the leather strop.

Overall Length 405mm
Rod Length 270mm

Exactly as advertised

"I use this about once a week (I cook almost daily but actively use my knife about 15 to 30 minutes per session) and this is a nice way to keep the edge. If you're looking at the handle, the 'longer' side is more ideal for Japanese style knives and the 'shorter' side is ideal for European style knives."

Q&A

Hi, should I hone my J. A. Henckels cleaver at 20 degrees? Thanks.
Hi Nick, 20 degrees sounds good - Ellie
What is the handle made of? It looks just like ceramic, but it must not be...
Hey James, It does look similar but the handle is made of a hard plastic. Alex
Any tips in general on how to avoid rounding the knife tip? I've had problems in the past with honing rods and tip rounding. If you ease off too much, you don't hone the tip, but if not, it can scrape around the curve of the rod.
Hey there! That can definitely be tricky. You can always try skipping the tip, then hone just the tip afterwards, which should allow you to be more precise. I hope this helps!
Is this one good for Shibata Kotetsu R2 knives? I don't know which one to choose, black or white.
Hey there! I would go black if you just plan to do Japanese knives, and white if you plan to do both western and Japanese!
how do you clean the ceramic rod?
Hi there, you can just use the course side of a kitchen scrubber or a magic eraser to take off the the grey marks. After a good clean I find it can work a little better too! - Ellie
