This stone is mostly an intermediate step, as jumping straight from 5,000 to 12,000 won’t produce good results. Similar to how using progressive grits of sandpaper requires less labour to produce a good polish, 8,000 grit buffs out scratches from rougher stones, and makes finishing your blade on finer stones an absolute breeze. If your blade is in good shape, this is a good stone to start with.
Naniwa Specialty stones are softer than some, so they require more careful and frequent flattening. They're a great budget-friendly option and will last a lifetime of casual sharpening.
Always flatten your stone with a truing stone after honing.

If there are any problems with your order, please notify us within 48 hours of receipt. Kent of Inglewood will not be responsible for any claims made after 48 hours. For breakage resulting from carrier transit, please keep the entirety of original item(s) as well as all packaging and packing materials for future inspection by carrier. If the package is not delivered within expected delivery date, please contact us immediately. We will start the investigation with carrier. In case of loss of item(s), only insured packages will be covered for replacement.

Excellent stone for finishing
"Good stone if you like them razor sharp! Don't use it before the very end of your sharpening. Works great on 154CM, S20V, S35 VN and other stainless modern high end steels. Maybe too delicate for 440, 1095 and D2, but YMMV. One last thing: BE GENTLE on it or you will easily scratch it."
