50% of Sharpening Proceeds Donated to the Moose Hide Campaign, September 1-30
This article mentions violence against women and children.
For all of September, 50% of sharpening proceeds from Kent of Inglewood and Knifewear will go to the Moose Hide Foundation!
Founded in 2011 by Raven Lacerte and her father, Paul, the Moose Hide Campaign centers around a simple but powerful medicine: a small square of moose hide. These pins spark conversations, carry stories, and represent a personal commitment to ending violence against women, children, and all those along the gender continuum. They are offered freely – not sold – because of the deeply rooted Indigenous value of reciprocity. They ask that people share this medicine to help heal emotional and spiritual wounds. Wearing the pin signifies your commitment to honour, respect, and protect the women and children in your life and speak out against gender-based and domestic violence. You can get a moose hide pin at your local Knifewear/Kent Store store.
Each pin is handcrafted in Winnipeg, at Mother Earth Recycling (MER)—an Indigenous-led social enterprise. Mother Earth Recycling is more than a workplace. It is a space of empowerment, cultural restoration, and economic reconciliation and creates meaningful employment for Indigenous people while also offering vital recycling services.
Every pin costs about $1 to make. Our donations will help, but you can also donate directly on their website. The Moose Hide Campaign lost federal funding this year, so your donations will go a long way.
Thank you for helping us make a difference! These two videos are a great place to start learning more about the campaign from the folks who started it:
