Helle Knife Eggen 100mm is a Great Knife!

"I bought this knife as a gift for my teenage daughter who's been coveting my 2 favorite knives for a while. She's finally had a chance to use it a few times since unwrapping it. Her words: I love the way the handle feels. This is a great knife. It's as functional as it is pleasing to the eye!"

Good Scandi knife, amazing handle

"Chose this over the Temagami because the handle felt slightly better and is slightly smaller. The curly birch handle is love it or hate it - I love it. Handle requires oiling periodically. Sheath is good quality leather, friction retention, hangs even with belt though I prefer neck carry. Blade is thicker than a Mora companion with a rat tail tang held by a peened brass ring. Have spent 10+ hours on simple carving tasks (spoons, pot hangers, try sticks). Shaving sharp from factory, better wedge for light batoning than a Mora companion (not warrantied for such use, it can beat up the back a little or damage the handle), functions a bit better than a Mora companion (IMO) but feels MUCH nicer in the hand and the slightly heavier weight is very pleasant. No hot spots so far. Spine is rounded, not meant for firesteel use. Could be made more useful by flat grinding the spine, but it may bring a tear to your eye. Fit and finish are excellent in my example. I have not sharpened the blade yet so nothing to say about the steel. Seems to be holding up fine on poplar/spruce/pine/willow. Less than shaving sharp now. Good value for the price without going into custom bush tool prices. Nicer feel than some Condor Scandi ground blades at lower price points and the stainless steel does not rust. Favourite part is the handle, is feels amazing. Recommend trying different handle styles and sizes if you are looking at Helle products, choose the one that feels most comfortable as they all feel slightly different. Great knife overall, excellent feel, good blade. Only gripe is the back being rounded and that is a compromise that favours its carving comfort."
