I started shaving with my
"I started shaving with my grandfather's old DE razor since my teens. Since then, in my 20s and 30s, I transitioned to disposables ie Gillette razor and the like; and they have been good but costly. I have long since been searching for, "The Perfect Shave", and in my 40s I transitioned to straight edge wet shaves. Many ouchies later I found myself full circle back into the world of DE razors. I have since amassed a small collection of DE Merkurs including the adjustable Futur and Progress razors. Both are very fine, solid DE razors. I do love my Futur DE as a daily razor but I admit it was more a love/hate relationship when I first started using it. One fine day many years ago I stumbled into the Kent of Inglewood store and laid my eyes on the Rex Ambassador DE razor. Holding it I was immediately struck by the weight, features and shear precision of this razor. This razor felt different - special even. I admit the cost of it was the single reason I didn't walk out the store with it that day, Years later, the memory of that first impression was still clear in my mind. This past Christmas I was doing some online shopping and "somehow" I found myself on TKI online store. It didn't take me long to find out the Rex Ambassador was on sale. Well a deep breath and a "buy" push of a key stroke later and the Rex was on its way to me. A week later it finally arrived and I can honestly say this has been my single best gift for levelling up shaving game - ever. Having used it for a month now and a few different razor blade types later (Feather, Astra and Gillette Nacet blades), I find the razor's adjustable aggressiveness adjusts easily to the personality of each blade making it a great DE razor for daily use or 2 times a week shaves. I tend to face and scalp shave 2-3 time a week. I have course stubble and hair on my scalp so Feather and Nacet blades tend to be my more go to blades even for daily shaves. That said, I went 1. 5 weeks without a shave and the Rex went through it like BUTTER. Two days growth later for a clean up and more of a daily shave on a lower aggressive setting and I'm astonished at how well the Rex shaves. I have minimal skin irritation on even my most prone facial areas ie lower neck and back of my scalp. And I like a CLOSE shave. It's not unusual for me to do 3 passes of my face and scalp to get as close a shave as possible. Other features I'd be remiss not to point out are the weight of the razor; it's dense and hefty for its size. I personally like a heavier razor, preferring to let the weight of the razor do the work with only light to no pressure from my hand. Secondly I love the toothy feel of the handle of the razor. It makes adjustments to blade aggressiveness much easier and simply holding and handling the razor that much easier and more intuitive; you never feel as though the razor will slip somehow. All in all you can tell thought, care and absolute precision went into the design and construction of the Rex Ambassador DE razor. If you are serious about your wet shave game, this is the Jedi's weapon of choice. I know the cost maybe a deterrent but it is most certainly an investment in what most definitely is the closest I've ever come to realizing the pursuit of the perfect shave. Don't hesitate you will not regret it."
