The “Sheep and Wolf” imprint is one of many found on classic Thiers Issard Blades dating back over a century. The understated cedar scales compliment without being gaudy, perfect for those who don’t wish to attract too much attention to their shaving habits.
The point is slightly rounded for safety while still offering the precision that straight razors are known for. The slightly taller than average blade will last longer and offer more heft while shaving, and the Japanese steel blade will stay sharp longer than almost any other make of straight razor on earth.
This razor is made from high carbon steel, capable of amazing sharpness and great edge retention but requires a little extra care. Be sure to dry your razor well after every use, and oil with Blade Oil or store in a dry place.
All straight razors must be stropped before use to straighten burrs and polish the edge for the smoothest shave possible. Be sure to use agood quality stropand accurate technique.
Honing/ Sharpening should be done on Japanese synthetic or natural whetstones. You can bring your blade into the Kent of Inglewood store to be honed, with the first time free on any blades purchased from us. Razor honing classes are also available at your nearest Kent of Inglewood location.
About Thiers Issard - Thiers-Issard was founded by Pierre Thiers in 1884, its name stemming from his wife’s and his last name, to differentiate between other Thiers of the area. Pierre Thiers put so much of his heart into his business; rumor has it that he died at his workbench. The company passed down through successive generations until 1985 when the company transferred to Gilles Reynewaeter, a Frenchman absolutely enamored by straight razors who has written two books on the subject. The company now uses a proprietary Japanese steel blend mixed with 1800’s techniques to craft some of the world's best razors.
