“The Jewel of France” couldn’t be a more appropriate name for such a gorgeous straight razor. The Frenchmen who craft these razors take the utmost care with the gold embossing, the perfect mirror polishing of the blade, and the classic imitation tortoise scales.
The point is slightly rounded for safety while still offering the precision that straight razors are known for. The slightly taller than average blade will last longer and offer more heft while shaving, and the Japanese steel blade will stay sharp longer than almost any other make of straight razor on earth.
|Steel||C135 Carbon Steel|
|Scales||Synthetic Tortoise Shell|
About Thiers Issard - Thiers-Issard was founded by Pierre Thiers in 1884, its name stemming from his wife’s and his last name, to differentiate between other Thiers of the area. Pierre Thiers put so much of his heart into his business; rumor has it that he died at his workbench. The company passed down through successive generations until 1985 when the company transferred to Gilles Reynewaeter, a Frenchman absolutely enamored by straight razors who has written two books on the subject. The company now uses a proprietary Japanese steel blend mixed with 1800’s techniques to craft some of the world's best razors.
